Ferries around the islands

The Tortola Ferry goes between Tortola and St. Thomas. Several different ferry companies provide service between the two islands. These ferries let people go between the British Virgin Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The ferries link Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas with Road Town or the West End of Tortola.
The ferries are a great way to reach Tortola from the U.S., because Americans can reach Tortola via only one direct flight and then a short ferry ride, saving the traveler several hundred dollars without a another flight.
You can catch one of the ferries anytime of day, but after 5pm most of the services stop running. The ride lasts about an hour and the scenery is quite nice. Prices range from around $30 for one-way or over $50 for a round trip (return ticket).

Cane Garden Bay Beach

Cane Garden Bay is a popular beach on the island with nice scenery and nearby amenities such as restaurants, a bar, and a few shops. There's a supermarket nearby, too. Live music can be found at nearby establishments. Check out Myett's (for happy hour), Elms and Quito's.
Half of this beach is mostly deserted, although Cane Garden Bay is where the cruise ship passengers often go. When cruise ships are in it will be crowded, but if you go early you'll get a good spot. Also, you want to arrive before many of the "vendors" that place chairs and lounges in the best locations and then rent you the chair. Like all beaches in the BVI's, the beach is public and you have just as much right to a location as the vendors.

Amazing and Isolated Beaches!

Check out the amazing beaches on Virgin Gorda. You can't miss The Baths, found in hidden caves with pools lurking under giant boulders hidden from above. But it gets crowded when cruise ships come. Changing rooms, food, and lockers are nearby. You can also check out nearby Devil's Bay beach where you can go snorkeling in the clear blue waters.
Down the road is Spring Bay, which has similar scenery to the baths, but much less crowded. It even has its own version of small pools surrounded by boulders, plus climbing rocks and small crevices to find a quiet spot. Snorkeling is also top notch at this beach..
A trail from Spring Bay leads to Little Trunk Bay, which does not see many people. Big Trunk Bay can be reached by going further along the trail and up a short steep section with a rope for support. The beach views here are even more beautiful.
Near Spanish Town is Savannah Bay and Pond Bay, also not seeing a lot of visitors, but with amazing views and scenery. Snorkeling here can be difficult and is recommended for good swimmers only. Otherwise the rocky areas of the beach are good for watching the fish.
