What makes Savannah a budget-friendly destination? Or not?

My trip here wasn't too pricey because I found a cheaper hotel. The city bus tour was also reasonable and let me see almost everything in one day. I think I got a good deal on dinner by avoiding the main row of touristy restaurants, too.
